Germany is a country characterized by variety. Trendy and modern Berlin can seem a world away from the more traditional and conservative Munich. The gleaming skyscrapers of Frankfurt form a stark contrast to quaint Heidelberg. EDUCATION SYSTEM
Programs are exclusively taught in English. Therefore German language skills are not a prerequisite for starting your studies. If you are willing to learn German, you also have the opportunity to join the German Language Courses at the University, which are free of charge. A good command of German will expand your advantage on the job market in case you consider working for one of the approx. 700 German companies in India.
HIGHER EDUCATION IN GERMANY
In terms of higher education as well, universities in Germany offer plenty of choice, including some of the most prestigious institutions in Western Europe. Germany’s highest ranked university in the QS World University Rankings® 2013/14 is Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg (ranked 50th in the world), followed by Technische Universität München (53rd).
Beyond that, every major German city you can think of has at least one university ranked among the world’s best. A total of 17 German universities make the world’s top 250, and a total of total are included within the world’s top 650. This established Germany well within the world’s higher education elite.
In addition to world-class universities, Germany also offers high quality of life, relatively low tuition fees, extensive support and scholarship schemes for international students, and decent post-graduation employment prospects. So it’s easy to see why so many choose to study in Germany each year.

Figures from Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD – the German Academic Exchange Service) indicate that 70,000 students were studying in Germany at graduate level in the same year, of which 50,000 were on master’s programs.
